The sacred dignity of the human person and the fundamental right to religious freedom is under attack in Sudan. Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag was sentenced to death last week for refusing to recant her Christian faith, despite the fact that she is eight months pregnant. Because Meriam refused to deny Christ and embrace Islam, the Sudanese court sentenced her to death by hanging. Today, she awaits execution behind bars. She needs our help. This is a grave violation of the personhood of Meriam and her unborn child. Moreover, this decision tramples upon Meriam’s basic liberty to practice the religion of her choosing. We cannot ignore these blatant abuses of human rights.
We’ve launched a petition to the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights and to the President of Sudan himself, demanding that Meriam be set free. We’ve started with a modest goal of 5,000 signatures to launch this petition, so please SIGN the petition right now to save Meriam.
This petition will pressure decision-makers in Sudan with the voices of thousands of international witnesses. It could also induce the U.N. Commissioner for Human Rights to focus on real
human rights abuses, like this one, rather than obsessing over their global abortion-promoting agenda. Please forward this petition to your friends so that they can sign it too.
Together, our signatures and prayers may be the difference to save Meriam’s life. We can make a difference, even though we are thousands of miles away. Let’s take a stand today to defend the personhood of Meriam and her unborn child!
